What is Corona-Virus?

Family of Viruses, which causes various types of infections in humans.

Types of Corona-Virus infections:

  1. Corona-Virus (COVID-19): Recently discovered in 2019, this causes Corona-virus disease (currently Pandemic across the world).
  2. Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV)
  3. Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV).
Why Corona-Virus (COVID-19) is so dangerous?
  1. It is new and limited information available on its activities
  2. It is mutating (changing), which is making it unpredictable because of its viral activity and the way it is transmitting.
  3. It may be Airborne (controversial), small particles which remain aloft in the air for longer periods of time
  4. Contact Transmission: if the virus drops on surfaces, may remain there for a longer durations (hours to days)
Symptoms of Corona-Virus (COVID-19) Disease

The signs and symptoms may starts appearing between 2 days to 14 days after exposure to the virus.
This may range from mild, Moderate or Severe.

  1. Fever
  2. Cough
  3. Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  4. Nausea/Diarrhea

Mild to moderate symptoms: They may be similar to other respiratory illnesses such as common flu or chest infection.

Severe Symptoms: Some people may develop severe chest infection including, difficulty in breath, high temperatures, Pneumonia or may unable to breath.

If you think you have symptoms related to COVID-19, you must discuss or see your doctors. Tell your doctor if you've recently traveled internationally. Who are at Risk of getting infection:
  1. Recent travel from or residence in an area with ongoing spread of COVID-19 as determined by world health Organization.
  2. Close contact with someone who has COVID-19 — such as when a family member or health care worker takes care of an infected person
